Beyond the Cloverleaf: Colfax Viaduct Walking Tour
June 18 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
TYPE: Walk& Talk | PACE: Conversational | TERRAIN: Mostly sidewalk | DISTANCE: 1.5 mi
Description: The Over the Colfax Clover initiative has been studying short- and long-term redesigns of the highway-style interchange of Colfax Avenue and Federal Boulevard to create better bicycle, pedestrian, and transit connections in West Denver. Looking further east toward downtown, the initiative is expanding to encompass the Colfax viaduct, beginning with these questions: Could a multi-use bicycle/pedestrian path on the viaduct work? How could we make connections to points below, especially on the Platte River?
Decision-makers and community members will be able to learn from each other and begin to answer these questions on a walk of the viaduct hosted by the West Colfax Business Improvement District, WalkDenver, and Walk2Connect.
Walking Movement Leader: Ana M. Lucaci is a Core-Owner with Walk2Connect. She has used walking as a means of transportation for many years, particularly while growing up and working in Eastern Europe. After a pedestrian/car crash, she became a walking advocate, helping others experience walking as a means of staying healthy and speaking out to make walking accessible and safe for all.
Schedule: We will start at the Auraria West light rail station and finish with a Happy Hour at Seedstock (you walk, we buy you a beer!). Meet us by the mural. Free RTD passes are available for anyone needing assistance traveling to or from the event. Contact [email protected] for assistance.
