TYPE: Event | PACE: Gentle/Conversational | TERRAIN: Mostly flat, sidewalks, dirt path in park | DISTANCE: Approx. 2 miles
Walk Description: BREATHE * MOVE * CONNECT * MEDITATE – A walking event inviting all active or retired military personnel, their families, supporters, friends and anybody who wants to join us! Comeback Yoga and Walk2Connect are joining together on a yoga/walking event by combining the benefits of yoga and walking. We will start at VFW Post 1 (in the Denver Santa Fe Art District) with a short walk to Sunken Garden Park. During our first lap around Sunken Garden Park we will be experiencing the importance of yoga breathing, moving and stretching by walking and stopping along the way doing short yoga exercises. The second lap you will walk around the park at your own pace. We will end with a short walk back to VFW Post 1 with a yoga cool down, stretching and guided meditation. Come learn more about Comeback style yoga. During this walk you will be introduced to the benefits in daily life of incorporating a healthy lifestyle of yoga and walking while connecting with like-minded people.
Walking Movement Leader: Come learn and share the benefits of living a life of balance and wellness with Vicki Befort. Learn techniques on how to relax, reduce stress and increase your energy by combining the benefits of yoga with walking. As a yoga instructor with Comeback Yoga, Vicki is combining her passion of practicing yoga for 15 years with her lifetime passion of walking/hiking.
Comeback Yoga is a nonprofit offering FREE yoga classes where veterans are! Comeback Yoga assists veterans, active duty military and their support network cultivate a healthy lifestyle by free access to appropriately designed yoga classes at the VA hospital, VA Outpatient Clinics,
VFW Post #1, military installations, and other veteran-friendly locations throughout the Front Range.
Parking: Parking available on street and parking lots around VFW Post 1. We will meet at VFW Post 1 and walk to Sunken Garden Park and return back at VFW Post 1. Schedule and Planning: We will meet at VFW Post 1 located at 841 Santa Fe Dr, Denver, CO 80204. Please plan on meeting at the front entrance of VFW Post 1 at 7:45am to check in, sign waivers and use the restroom at nearby coffee shop. We will begin walking to Sunken Garden Park at 8:00 am and return back to VFW Post 1 at approximately 9:30 am for yoga cooldown and guided
Directions: VFW Post 1 (841 Santa Fe Dr, Denver, CO 80204) is located at the Denver Santa Fe Art District (https://denversartdistrict.org/). Directions will be emailed after registration.
Welcome Waivers: Please fill out the online Welcome Waiver or download, print, sign and turn in a hard copy if this will be your first Walk2Connect walking experience this year.

Accessibility: We will walk a couple of blocks from VFW Post 1 (includes crosswalks & traffic lights) to Sunken Garden Park. The first lap around the park is gentle walking, yoga stretching and movements. The second lap we will be walking around the park at your own pace. It is approximately 1 mile around the park for a total of approximately 2 miles and ¼ of a mile to and from VFW Post 1. Their will be a short walk back to VFW Post 1 with a cool down and guided meditation on yoga mats at VFW Post 1. You may end your morning of yoga and walking by viewing the Veteran’s Art Gallery. Restrooms are available at VFW Post 1 or at neighboring coffee shop.
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move and stretch in
Bring sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes
Bring a water bottle
Bring a small snack if you like
