Civic Area SMiLE Scavenger Hunt (Boulder)

June 8 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Free

TYPE: Walk & Talk | PACE: Gentle/Child-Friendly | TERRAIN: Sidewalks, some dirt paths | DISTANCE: Approx. 1/2 mile

Walk Description: Bring your children, grandchildren and young-at-heart friends to downtown Boulder for a fun, family-friendly SMiLE scavenger hunt! We’ll meet at the playground outside of the Main Boulder Public Library, then walk through the Civic Area, keeping our eyes peeled for up to 10 artworks by Boulder’s favorite street artist, SMiLE. Participants will receive a “bingo card” of all of the SMiLE works on our route with clues written in verse – spot them all and win a prize! We’ll have snacks and stickers for all of the young explorers who come along. Optional lunch at the Farmer’s Market afterward for all who would like to participate.

On this family walking adventure, we’ll also share and look over the new Growing Up Boulder Child-Friendly City Map (the FIRST of its kind in the country!). Learn more here.

Walking Movement Leader: Darcy Kitching is an active Boulder mom and a core owner of the Walk2Connect Cooperative who coordinates walking events for the City of Boulder’s GO Boulder program.

Great Options for Getting There: Take the Skip bus down Broadway to Arapahoe and walk over to the library, take the Jump bus down Arapahoe, bike, or park in the library parking lot (first 90 minutes are free). Meet us at the playground – look for Darcy with the Boulder Walks banner by the benches.

Trip Notes:
– Dogs are welcome, on 6′ or shorter leashes. No retractable leashes, please.
– Wear comfortable shoes, sun protection and clothing appropriate for the weather, and be sure children are comfortably attired for an active experience.
– Bring water, snacks and cash for lunch at the Farmer’s Market, if desired.
– Restrooms are available at the library. Come early to use the toilet and fill water bottles.

Cancellation Policy: This walk will take place rain or shine and will only be canceled in the event of extreme weather conditions. Check Meetup or text the walk leader for the most up-to-date conditions.

Welcome Waivers: Please fill out the online “Welcome Waiver” or download, print, sign, and turn in a hard copy if this will be your first Walk2Connect walking experience this year.

RSVP: You can register for this walk by A) signing up below, or B) emailing or calling Darcy at [email protected] or 303-250-2436.
