Free

SEGMENT 10  Cherry Creek South to Expo Park

TYPE: W&T | PACE: 2-3 mph |TERRAIN: Lots of sidewalk, small hills, dirt/pebble trail | DIFFICULTY: Moderate| DISTANCE: Approx. 5.8 miles

Walk Description: In partnership with the High Line Canal Conservancy, we will walk the entire High Line Canal, one segment at a time, covering most of the 71-mile trail. Check out our overview page here for more information on all of our walking events.

Segment 10 of 14 Miles 44-50. On this segment, we’ll continue past Cherry Creek Golf Course as we come to the major intersection of the High Line Canal and the Cherry Creek. We’ll start to understand how far the water in the Canal actually flows when we get to Fairmount Cemetery, the Canals’ second largest and furthest user. We’ll say hello to the Windsor Garden residents. We leave the Urban Refuge Zone at the end of this segment

Walk Leader: Chris Englert is a long-time Walking Movement Leader, Member-Owner of Walk2Connect, and author of Best Urban Hikes: Denver and Walking Denver’s Neighborhoods. Follow her at www.urbanhikingDEN.com, and at @urbanhikingDEN on social media. You can reach her at 303 507 7280 or chris@walk2connect.com.

Meeting Location: Park at 9200 Cherry Creek S Dr, Denver, CO 80231. We will meet at the end of the segment, park, and then carpool to the beginning of the segment. Please be parked and ready to walk at 7:20 am. We will leave no later than 7:35 to the starting destination.

Carpool to Here: Park at 301 S. Lansing, Aurora, CO Park along Lansing. This is a neighborhood, so please be kind and quiet as we gather. Park along Lansing. We will walk the segment together. At the end of the walk, we will carpool back to the beginning of the segment to return people to their cars.

Teamwork: In order for us to have a great time, enjoy the segment, and get everyone to the beginning and ends, we must work as a team. Patience, guidance and erring on the side of positivity are crucial for a successful and joyful segment.

Restrooms: There are NO restrooms along this route. Please use facilities on Yale before arriving at our meeting location.

Driving Liability: If you are not comfortable carpooling, please make other arrangements to meet us at the start of the walk and for you to depart the walk. Alternatively, you can take a Lyft. If you use this link and you’re a new Lyft user, you get a credit toward your first ride. If you have questions about how parking/carpooling/transit will work, please contact your walking movement leader. If you choose to drive, please remember that you must have liability insurance and you assume all risks as a driver or passenger. If asked, please be prepared to show your proof of insurance.

Welcome Waivers: Please fill out the online “Welcome Waiver” or download, print, sign, and turn in a hard copy. You only need to do this once a year with Walk2Connect.

Priority Registration: The walk is limited to 30 people. Priority will be given to High Line Canal Heroes and Walk2Connect Champions. If this walk is full, you may consider joining our Gentle High Line Canal Series which walks at 2 mph on Saturdays/Sundays.

Final Details: You will receive final details about this segment on the day before we walk. Refer to this final details email for concluding comments about weather, parking, and conditions. If you do not receive this email by 5 pm the day before the walk, contact your walking movement leader immediately.
