Fitness Walk from South Boulder Recreation Center
February 14 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
An event every month that begins at 9:00am on day Second of the month, repeating until April 11, 2019
TYPE: Same Time, Same Place Monthly | PACE: Fitness/Conversational | TERRAIN: Sidewalks, packed dirt road | DISTANCE: Approx. 4 miles |
Walk Description: This 4-mile fitness walk connects Harlow Platts Park and Tantra Park along multi-use paths, and follows the wide, well-maintained dirt road and trails around the CU South Campus land. It’s a beautiful place to start the day, with great views of the mountains. Note that this walk IS stroller-friendly, particularly for jogging strollers or others with larger wheels, but the trail can get quite muddy. Come out for a moderately paced walk and good company!
Walking Movement Leader: Darcy Kitching is a member-owner of the Walk2Connect Co-op and the Walk2Connect Boulder program manager. Walk with Darcy on Thursday mornings and during periodic Boulder Walks events, organized in cooperation with the City of Boulder’s GO Boulder program.
Schedule, Planning and Transit: We will meet outside the front entrance of the South Boulder Recreation Center. Arrive a little early to use the restroom and fill a water bottle, if needed. The 206 and 206F buses stop right outside of the rec center, so consider taking transit!
~ We will begin walking at 9:05 so please arrive on time.
~ Be sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, sun protection and wear appropriate gear/clothing for the season. For winter walking, be sure to wear breathable layers, a hat/beanie, and bring non-slip shoe cleats (YakTrax or similar) or wear boots with good traction.
~ Well-behaved and well-socialized dogs on 6′ or shorter leashes are welcome.
Cancellation Policy: This walk will take place rain or shine and will only be canceled in the event of extreme weather conditions. Check Meetup or text the walk leader for the most up-to-date conditions.
Welcome Waivers: Please fill out the online “Welcome Waiver” (http://www.walk2connect.com/welcomewaiver/) or download, print, sign, and turn in a hard copy if this will be your first Walk2Connect walking experience this year.
