The Snow Moon: Hike and Guided Meditation {Evergreen}

February 15 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

The Snow Moon: Full Moon Hike and Guided Meditation

TYPE: Program | PACE: Conversational | TERRAIN: Dirt trail/Off trail | DISTANCE: Approx. 3 miles| COST: $20

Join Member-Owner, Maria Rosa Galter, and Moon Circle Facilitator, Jennifer Reeve, to celebrate the Snow Moon. Traditionally, the Moon we see in February is called the Snow Moon because usually the heaviest snows fall in February. This name dates back to the Native Americans during Colonial times when the Moons were a way of tracking the seasons. Other Native American tribes called this Moon the “Shoulder to Shoulder Around the Fire Moon” (Wishram Native Americans). Using this theme as our anchor for our walk, we will explore the warmth of community and relationships and reflect on the stillness of the season. The quiet of winter is a time for invisible growth through rest or challenge, and a time to hold community close.  As the closest astronomical body to earth, the moon has a profound effect on us. It represents the feminine, emotional, creative and nurturing aspects of our lives. During full moon time, everything is amplified, providing an excellent opportunity to release what you no longer need in your life or an aspect of yourself that you have outgrown.

Walking Movement Leader: Maria Rosa Galter, a Walk2Connect Member-Owner and founder of Walking Inspiritus, invites you to experience the benefits of walking on the Earth at 2-3 MPH during this full moon hike. Maria, a graduate of Benedictine Spiritual Formation Program and of the Bovine Metropolis Theater School of Improv, is an avid hiker who loves to correlate improv, life, and spirituality.

About Jennifer Reeve from Remember Your Wings: As a teacher of Qoya and Hatha Yoga as well as a Wild Woman Project moon circle facilitator, Jennifer directs her students toward embodying their Divine essence through mindful movement, meditation, ritual and energy healing. She brings her wisdom to Remember Your Wings, guided by the belief that the power and magic of feminine energies are needed on earth now more than ever before!

Schedule and Planning: Meet at Elk Meadow parking lot at 4:45 pm for check in and to sign waivers if necessary. We will start promptly at 5:00 pm. We should be back in the parking lot no later than 6:30 PM, one hour after sunset when the park closes! Plan on using the restroom at the parking lot before the hike.

Directions: From exit I-70, take exit 252 to Hwy 74 (Evergreen Parkway). Head south about 5 miles to Lewis Ridge Road. Take a right on Lewis Ridge Road (or Bergen Peak Dr.) and make a right into the parking lot. The trailhead is at the end of the parking lot. Call me at 720-810-2837 if you can’t find it!
