Intrinsic Paths Contemplative Walking Experience: Manitou Springs & Red Rock Canyon (10 Miles)
November 10, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 3:30 pmFree – $25
TYPE: PRGM | PACE: Conversational & Exploratory | TERRAIN: sidewalk, gravel/dirt path, some road, trail, some rock scrambling | DISTANCE: 10 miles
Walk Description: Protect some significant time for unhurried movement, meditative/contemplative practice and guided moving dialogue in and through beautiful Manitou Springs, Old Colorado City and Red Rock Canyon. We will spend roughly 10 miles together in calm, facilitated, and side-by-side movement and silence. We will have momentary times of silence, prompted reflection/connection, and some area history to share. This will be a fun and grounding late Fall/early Winter walking experience. We will not be in a hurry.
We will hold and move through deep and complex topics connected to the mission of Intrinsic Paths:
- Human Dignity & Human Relationship
- Inner Freedom & Vulnerability
Respect & Honoring Difference: Please be open to holding and moving with these themes. You will never be put on the spot to share. Everything will be optional. You will be guided and encouraged to go into these topics while walking alongside fellow participants. This walk is inclusive to ALL religious beliefs, political positions, races, some ages/abilities (b/c of route trails and distance), sexual orientations, economic classes and more. This will be a walking experience that respects and honors difference while going into deeper and perhaps challenging conversations.
Patrons, Patreon & Tickets: This inner and outer walking experience is gifted to all Patrons of the Intrinsic Paths Patreon Page and is also available to non-Patrons at the cost of a ticket below ($25). If you are getting a non-Patron ticket and you are a [email protected] Champion, be sure to select that specific ticket below. If you can’t join as a Patron and if you can’t at this time afford the cost of the ticket, please contact me at jonathon (at) intrinsicpaths (dot) com and we will work something out. If you are curious about becoming a Patron, please take some time to look over the goals and projects of the linked page above. There is no pressure to join as a Patron. Becoming a Patron gives me creative freedom to spend more and more time hosting, writing and creating a wide variety of invitations around the themes noted above. ; )
Walking Movement Leader: Jonathon Stalls is the Founder of Walk2Connect and one of nine co-op owners. He’s walked thousands of miles and recently finished his studies at the Living School for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has committed much of his life to growing a connection-focused walking movement to help people deepen and heal their connection to one another, to the Earth and to their inner journey. Watch his TEDx talk here and consider supporting his creative efforts through Intrinsic Paths on Patreon here.
Schedule, Planning, Lunch and Nearby Transit: We will organize carpools from various locations. Please contact me if you are available to host a carpool (esp those coming from Denver or further north). Please plan to meet at Jives Coffeehouse at 8:00 am OR earlier if you would like to get a drink and use the restroom. We will plan to leave NO later than 8:15 am. Please plan to bring your own lunch or plan to have lunch during our longer break in Manitou Springs (which will be a little later in the day). Be sure to have a good breakfast and snacks to tide you over. We should get back to our starting location no later 3:30 pm.
Terrain & Weather Notes: This will be a relaxed long-distance walking experience. We will walk in and around trails, neighborhoods and commercial streets. There will be one part of this experience where we will climb on the top of rounded rocks (see image in event). This is, of course, is optional, but we will be doing one ritual in this area. If you are uncomfortable or unable to do this portion and have questions, please reach out to me directly. We will do this walk in almost ALL weather conditions. If there is a blizzard impacting visibility and safety, we will cancel and reschedule this event.
- Dogs are not allowed on this one. Thanks for your understanding.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes with non-cotton socks, dress in layers and/or waterproof gear and bring water.
- Cancellation Policy: We only cancel in extreme weather conditions. Feel free to email or call leader using the contact information below to double-check.
- Be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks.
