Ring In the New Year Ramble
January 1, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
TYPE: W&T | PACE: Conversational | TERRAIN: Sidewalks, Gravel, Some gradual inclines | DISTANCE: approx. 3 miles (1hr 15 min – 1hr 30 min)
Join us for our 4th Annual New Years Resolution Walk where we’ll “ring in” 2017 with a connection- and community-focused 3 mile ramble in beautiful Golden, Colorado. This will be a casual walkabout for folks of all ages in and around the front range with a small portion of time given to setting intentions around resolutions for 2017. You may also get tidbits of Golden facts and history along the way.
Enjoy this time to start the new year ~ together.
Your Walk Leader(s): This walk will be led by Walk2Connect Leaders and Golden Walks Organizers, Saoirse Charis-Graves and Betty & Harold Payte, with support from the entire Golden Walks team.
Meeting, Parking, & Location: Golden being a “gateway city,” it’s very easy to get to from all directions on the Front Range. We’ll park and start at Parfet Park (Water St & Jackson St) and we’ll gather up promptly at 1pm. Please plan to arrive early so you are ready start the program with us at 1pm. We will be leaving to walk NO later than 1:10PM. We will return NO later than 3PM. Meet specifically in the northeast corner of the park. That is right next to the parking lot for the park. There is a picnic table in that corner as well, and an open area next to the picnic table, so good for gathering and talking to the crowd.
Trip Notes: We are in the Winter season, so please come prepared with enough layers and/or waterproof gear in case we do run into cooler weather or rain. We strongly encourage bringing your own water bottle as well as sun protection, even in the winter months. There will be restrooms at the start and end of this route. Additionally, this is a family-friendly walk and we encourage young kids to attend; however the route will not accommodate strollers.
“Resolution Stones” are a tradition for this walk. If you’d like to participate, please bring a palm-sized stone to the walk and we’ll explain what to do with it.
Traction Devices: depending on the levels of snow and ice, please plan on bringing your own traction devices to keep a firm grip to the ground when moving together.
Welcome Waivers: Please fill out the online “Welcome Waiver” before you come (if you can) so we can avoid too much clipboard passing! You can also download, print, sign, and turn in a hard copy if this will be your first THIS YEAR with Walk2Connect for 2017 (which it should be for everyone, so EVERYONE should be filling out waivers for this one!).
