Intrinsic Paths: SE Denver Greenways, Babi Yar Park & Sudan Cafe (7-8 Miles)
December 14 @ 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
Free – $20
TYPE: PRGM | PACE: Conversational & Exploratory | TERRAIN: sidewalk, gravel/dirt path/trail, commercial road | DISTANCE: 7-8 miles
Walk Description: Protect some time for unhurried movement, meditative/contemplative practice, guided dialogue in and through beautiful SE Denver, SW Aurora (Cherry Creek path, High Line Canal, Babi Yar Park, and various commercial corridors). We will spend roughly 7-8 miles together in calm, facilitated, and side-by-side movement (a mix of social, solo, and silent walking). We will have momentary times of silence and prompted reflection/connection. This will be a fun and grounding Winter walking experience. We will not be in a hurry.
We will hold and move through the following deep and complex topics connected to the mission of Intrinsic Paths:
- Walking as Justice & Human Dignity
- Walking as Healing
- Walking as Earth Care
Respect & Honoring Difference: Please be open to holding and moving with these themes. You will never be put on the spot to share. Everything will be optional. You will be guided and encouraged to go into these topics while walking alongside fellow participants. This walk is inclusive to ALL religious beliefs, political positions, races, some ages/abilities (b/c of route trails and distance), sexual orientations, economic classes and more. This will be a walking experience that respects and honors difference while going into deeper and perhaps challenging conversations.
Patrons, Champions & Tickets: This inner and outer walking experience is gifted to all Patrons of the Intrinsic Paths Patreon Project and is also available to non-Patrons at the cost of a ticket below ($20). Patreon is a creative tool to link arms with artists and creative types. I’ve been curating meaningful poems, artmaking, video reflections, walking invitations, and contemplative practices through this medium for almost two years now. You can join for as little as $2/month. No pressure whatsoever. Only if leaves you curios to move alongside and support my creative process.
If you can’t join as a Patron and if you can’t at this time afford the cost of the ticket, please contact me at jonathon (at) intrinsicpaths (dot) com or by phone (303) 908-0076 and we will work something out. I never want $$ to be a barrier to these types of invitations.
Schedule, Planning, Lunch, Parking and Nearby Transit: We will meet at Sonder Coffee & Tea at 8:00 am OR earlier if you would like to get a drink and use the restroom. We will plan to leave NO later than 8:15 am. We will be planning to have a group lunch at the Sudan Cafe. Lunch will be on your own and/or please plan to pack your own lunch (you might need to eat outside somewhere near the cafe) if you are unsure about the menu and your dietary needs. Reach out if you have questions! We should be finished NO later than 2:00 pm (hopefully sooner). The nearest transit routes are 21, 83D, and 83L. Consider carpools and you might want to park on S Dayton Way just across Iliff Ave from Sonder Coffee.
Terrain & Weather Notes: This will be a relaxed walking experience. We will walk on greenway paths alongside the Cherry Creek and the High Line Canal, through neighborhoods, and on commercial streets. We will do this walk in almost ALL weather conditions. If there is a blizzard impacting visibility and safety, we will cancel and reschedule this event.
Trip Notes:
- Dogs are not allowed on this one. Thanks for your understanding.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes with non-cotton socks, dress in layers and/or waterproof gear and bring water.
- Cancellation Policy: We only cancel in extreme weather conditions. Feel free to email or call leader using the contact information below to double-check.
- Be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks.
Welcome Waivers: Please fill out the online “Welcome Waiver” or download, print, sign, and turn in a hard copy if this will be your first Walk2Connect walking experience in 2019.
