Walk to “The World Before Your Feet” + Talk-back with a New Yorker (Boulder)

January 24 @ 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm

**UPDATE 1/22/19: The screening we’re walking to is SOLD OUT, but you can still go see the film on your own until January 26! **

TYPE: W&T | PACE: Conversational | TERRAIN: Paved sidewalks | DISTANCE: Approx. 1 mile (one-way)

Walk Description: What would it be like to walk every, single street in your city? What might you learn? Who might you meet? Join us at Boulder’s Pizzeria Locale for a little after-work bite, followed by a 15-minute walk down Walnut Street to The Dairy Arts Center to watch the new documentary about walking, “The World Before Your Feet.” We’ll bring lights to shine the way, and walk leader Darcy will accompany anyone who wants to walk back to the downtown bus station and parking garage after the film and talk-back session with native New Yorker, urbanist and landscape architect Jerry Shapins.

Here’s a short synopsis of the film: “For over six years, and for reasons he can’t explain, Matt Green, 37, has been walking every block of every street in New York City – a journey of more than 8,000 miles. From filmmaker Jeremy Workman and Executive Producer Jesse Eisenberg, THE WORLD BEFORE YOUR FEET tells the story of one man’s unusual personal quest and the unexpected journey of discovery, humanity, and wonder that ensues.”

Purchase tickets for 7 p.m. film screening (on Thursday, January 24) at The Dairy Center’s Boedecker Theater here. We suggest buying tickets ahead of time. Watch the film trailer here.

Walking Movement Leader: Darcy Kitching is a co-owner of the Walk2Connect Co-op and is the Walk2Connect collaborative storyteller. She loves a great walking story – read the stories she has collected here, and watch her Ignite Boulder talk on walking here.

Schedule, Planning and Transit: If you drive, park at the 14th and Walnut Parking Garage (RTD Station) or the 15th and Pearl Parking Garage. If taking the bus, get off at the Downtown Boulder Station (served by many routes, including the Flatiron Flyer, the Nederland bus, 205 and JUMP routes). We will meet at Pizzeria Locale on Pearl Street just east of 17th. Darcy will be there at 5 p.m. Please arrive anytime before 6:15 p.m. Come early to get a bite to eat.
