Authentic Relating Walking Series: Cultivating Curiosity

Session 1: Cultivating Curiosity

Sunday, April 11 @ 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Miles:  3-4 miles  |  Terrain: urban streets, alleys & sidewalks  |  Pace: Conversational/Gentle

Context: Authentic Relating, put simply, is the practice of being human. Throughout the sessions, you’ll be led by Naveed Heydari in playing ‘games’—experiential exercises designed to deepen your connection with yourself and the other participants, in an environment where it’s safe to express how you really feel.

Cultivating curiosity is about following the threads of aliveness within yourself and giving them a space to play and grow while maintaining connection to self and to the present moment.

When we can approach another human without assumptions and preconceptions we open ourselves to a realm of possibilities, where a deeper state of connection is available. Focusing on questions instead of answers, we harness the superpower of childlike curiosity, and allow for greater discovery and receptivity.

Practices & Agreements: We'll be practicing 1) following our own aliveness, 2) witnessing self/other, 3) receiving feedback, 4) honoring self through the "thank you" rule.

By signing up to this event you agree to (these will be covered at the beginning of our gathering more thoroughly):

1) Honour Yourself- by being “at choice” and taking responsibility for my well-being

2) Confidentiality: content without names / names without content

3) Practice Ownership- Recognizing and accepting as mine (and sometimes
naming) those things I bring to a situation that affect what I experience

Details: After an opening circle (introductions & context setting) with the full group, you will be paired up with another person until the closing circle of the walk. The pairs will play the Curiosity Game; an emergent game where you get to determine what questions are most alive for you.

The strong container is meant to give permission to ask the questions that we're most curious about but we don't always follow that intuition because of internalized social norms around interacting.

RSVP: Limited to 9 participants. We will be practicing safe social distancing and mask wearing.

Cost: $22 for non-members, $17 for Walk2Connect members (I strive to be relational over transactional. Please reach out to [email protected] if financial contribution presents a barrier to your participation)

Location: Wheat Ridge Library, 5475 W 32nd Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80212. Parking is best on the West side of building.
Public Transit Options: Nearby bus routes 32 and 38 (East-West) and 51 (Sheridan Rd.)
