Burn off your Thanksgiving dinner while moving around the edge of Boulder on this half-day, half-marathon urban hike! On Saturday, November 30th, we'll walk from 9 am to 2 pm, starting at the Neptune Mountaineering Cafe in the Table Mesa Shopping Center and ending with a celebration at Proto's Pizza in North Boulder.
Depending on the weather, we'll either hike up onto the trails on the west side of the city or go east along the South Boulder Creek Path and connected trails, following half of the Boulder Walk 360 Slow Marathon loop. No matter what conditions Thanksgiving weekend throws at us, we'll get a great walk in with good company and replenish our energy at fantastic Boulder spots on Small Business Saturday.
Be sure to suit up in warm, moisture-wicking layers, bring your shoe traction and trekking poles, and get ready for an adventure!
RSVP by reserving your free ticket here, and contact [email protected] with any questions.
Schedule and Planning: We'll meet at the Neptune Mountaineering Cafe at 9:00 am and start hiking promptly at 9:15 am. We will assess the conditions together and decide which way to go based on group consensus. No matter the weather, we'll get out and burn some calories together. We will finish the route by 2:00 pm.
Walking Movement Leader: Darcy Kitching coordinates events for the City of Boulder's Boulder Walks program and is an avid long-distance walker. Watch Darcy's Ignite Boulder talk, "What I've Learned by Walking 26 Miles Around Boulder 6 Times," here.
~ Our route takes us around the city, in the city. There are plenty of "bail points" if you don't feel like you can finish the route. That said, please do prepare to walk 13 miles with us.
~ Please prepare for rocky, steep, uneven paths on some of the trails.
~ Bring traction for your shoes, several pairs of extra socks, gaiters, mittens, and everything you'll need to keep your body and your feet warm, dry and blister-free!
~ We will be taking plenty of breaks and there will be a few restroom opportunities along the way.
~ Dogs are NOT allowed on this event (some trail sections do not allow them).
