The Sand Creek Regional Greenway (SCRG) is a nearly 14-mile public trail and natural area located in the northeast metro area in Commerce City, Denver, and Aurora. The trail begins in Commerce City, where it turns east from the South Platte Greenway. From here it runs through northeast Denver and the new Stapleton community. The Greenway ends in Aurora at Colfax Avenue, where it connects with the High Line Canal Trail. The Sand Creek Regional Greenway is home to many unique plants and animals. Because of the water – Sand Creek –wildlife is drawn to the Greenway. It is a natural urban oasis in the middle of bustling cities. While walking on the 14-miles of trail, you may see all sorts of animals, plants, and insects. We will be looking for prairie dogs, red foxes, deer or jack rabbits!

Join us for all segments or just one! Ranging from 3.5-4.5 miles each, these segments allow you to continuously walk the entire length of the Greenway this spring. We’ll walk at a pleasant 2-3 mph, creating wonderful connection and conversation. All participants who complete all 4 segments by the last scheduled segment will receive a patch from the Sand Creek Greenway Partnership signifying the completion of the entire Sand Creek Greenway.

Starting mid-March, we will walk all 4 segments of the Sand Creek trail on the following dates:
