Saturday Lookout Walk at Ft Tryon

Pace: Conversational  |  Surface: A combination of a concrete multi-use path and dirt/gravel. One steep downhill grade  |  Distance: approximately 2 miles. 

Walk Description: Descend through stunning views of fall foliage, Hudson River, and New Jersey's Palisades. The grade is manageable even for somewhat tender knees. The view is one of the most beautiful in New York. Connect with nature, serenity, and your community.

Meeting Location & How to find us: From the M4/M98 bus stop at Margaret Corbin Circle walk straight on the Stan Micheals path to the Linden Circle flag pole. IMPORTANT LOCATION UPDATE: There is no access at the Fort Washington Avenue station. You can take the A train to 190th and exit on the Bennett Avenue side or take the A to 181st Street and exit at the 184th Street elevators.

By Bus: Take the M4 or M98 bus north to its last stop, which will be marked either “192nd Street,” “190th Street,” “Cloisters,” or “Margaret Corbin Circle.” Please ask the bus driver if the bus goes to Fort Tryon Park. T

By Car: From Manhattan and Brooklyn, Queens, or Long Island via the Triborough (RFK) Bridge or 59th Street (Edward Koch Queensboro) Bridges and the Midtown Tunnel, take the FDR/Harlem River Drive north to the Amsterdam Avenue/George Washington Bridge exit. At the light, make a right onto Amsterdam Avenue. Proceed north to 179th Street. Make a left onto 179th Street and proceed west to Fort Washington Avenue. At Fort Washington Avenue, turn right and proceed north to Margaret Corbin Circle. This is the southern entrance to Fort Tryon ParkParking: Don't Drive & Don't Worry About Parking

Dog Friendly: Doggies day off. Let them rest at home. 

Restrooms:  There are two public facilities in the park: the lower level of the park concession building on Margaret Corbin Drive and in the building at Anne Loftus Playground.  

Weather: Please dress in layers appropriate for the expected weather of the day. Water is always a good idea!

RSVP: This is subject to rain-out due to the steep grade, so It's a good idea to RSVP in case the walk is unexpectedly canceled.
