Walk Description: Enjoy gorgeous mountain views on this 4.5-mile urban hike linking the South Boulder Creek West Trail with the Mesa Trail and Upper Big Bluestem. With little elevation gain (450 feet), this loop hike offers an invigorating way to start your day without taking too much out of you! Come connect with others and discover a beautiful place in South Boulder. Restrooms are available at the trailhead.
Schedule & Planning: We will meet at the South Boulder Creek West trailhead parking lot on Highway 93 at Thomas Lane. This is a fee parking area - it's $5 for cars not registered in Boulder County. Carpool if you can! We will start hiking no later than 9:10 am and finish by about 11 am.
Walking Movement Leader: Darcy Kitching is a co-owner of the Walk2Connect Cooperative and has been leading walks and hikes in Boulder since 2015. Reach her at [email protected]
Trip Notes:
- It's important to bring shoe traction this time of year! I recommend Kahtoola MicroSpikes for hiking.
- Be sure to bring water if you need it, layers of clothes appropriate for the weather, and comfortable footwear.
- The trails are rocky and uneven. Bring trekking poles, if desired.
- Dogs are allowed, on 6' or shorter non-retractable leashes.
